What it’s like
Sock-footed sensory play for babies and under-fives, with small world corners, messy art and a 90-minute session that's booked, not wandered into.
This one's built entirely around the very small: babies through to five-year-olds, with sessions split into small world and role play areas, baby sensory exploration, and messy or creative play that usually ends in some kind of keepsake art to take home. Shoes come off at the door and socks go on, so pack a spare pair if your toddler's just decided socks are the enemy this week.
Sessions run 1.5 hours and you book a slot rather than turn up on spec. That's a bit of a faff if you're used to walk-in soft play, and they're firm about arriving at your allocated time rather than early, but it does mean the room isn't heaving when you get there. Prices step up with age, from £7.50 for a baby under a year plus one adult to £9.50 for a 2 to 5 year old, with extra adults at £2.50 and additional siblings £3. There's a proper baby sensory class too, £10 and that includes a hot drink and cake for you, plus baby yoga and a baby massage course if you're after something more structured than free play.
It's open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm, so this isn't a weekend option, it's more of a term-time-morning-with-a-baby kind of place. Parking's free right in front of the building with overflow space if it's busy, and there's a café on site for when the small world play has worn everyone out. Birthday parties get the space to themselves, either 90 minutes for £130 or two hours for £160, both for up to 10 children, though outside drinks aren't allowed in beyond the children's own bottles.
