What it’s like

Sim racing in proper bucket seats, with challenges to beat a mini stig or a real BTCC driver.

This is racing, not arcade driving. Professional grade simulators sit in actual racing bucket seats, and the sessions run from complete beginner up to pro level, so nobody's thrown in at the deep end. Kids from 6 can have a go, though anyone under 135cm might want the cushions they keep for positioning, or a lap-steer with an adult if they're really small.

The bit worth building a visit around is the challenge mode: Beat The Mini Stig for £20, or Beat The Pro against BTCC driver Charles Rainford, also £20. Groups of up to 5 can link simulators and race each other head to head for £25 an hour, which works out reasonable once you split it. A single session starts at £19.50, and that's not pocket change for what's essentially a driving game, but the kit on show explains why.

Birthday parties get their own exclusive session, 5 drivers for £125 over 1.5 hours or 10 drivers for £225 over 2.5 hours, soft drinks included. You can bring your own food or sort a takeaway, and there's free tea and coffee thrown in with any booking, which is a nice touch for the adults standing about watching.

Booking online is the way to do this: walk-ins are possible but they're upfront that weekends and evenings fill up, especially the Friday Night Racing socials. Turn up 10 to 15 minutes early to get settled, and you won't need to bring a helmet or any kit of your own.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

A standard session is £19.50. The challenge modes, Beat The Mini Stig and Beat The Pro, are £20 each, and group sessions for up to 5 drivers are £25 an hour.

Do we need to book?

Booking online is strongly recommended, particularly for weekends and evening sessions. Walk-ins can be considered but availability isn't guaranteed.

What age can kids start?

The minimum age is 6. Some experiences have extra requirements, so it's worth picking the right one for your child's age.

Is there a height limit?

The full simulator experience recommends at least 135cm. Below that, they've got cushions to help with positioning, or a smaller child can sit on an adult's lap and steer.

Can my kids race against each other?

Yes, group sessions link up to 5 simulators so everyone races at once.

What food is on offer?

Free tea and coffee come with any booking, plus soft drinks to buy. You can also bring your own food or arrange a takeaway.

How early should we arrive?

Aim to get there 10 to 15 minutes before your session so you're not rushing into the seat.

Do we need to bring any equipment?

No, and no helmet needed either. Just turn up and drive.

What's included in a birthday party?

Two package sizes: 5 drivers for £125 over 1.5 hours, or 10 drivers for £225 over 2.5 hours. Both are exclusive sessions with soft drinks included.
