What it’s like
A free local library with story time, games and a craft group, though the opening hours are short and change daily.
Story time is the obvious pull here, along with a craft group and games sessions that the library lists as open to all ages. There's also a Memory Café running for people with memory difficulties and their carers, which isn't something every branch bothers with, so it's worth knowing it's there if it's relevant to your family.
The catch is the opening hours. Every day is different and most of them are three-hour windows, not a full day. Monday and Thursday afternoons are 1pm to 4pm, Tuesday morning is 9:30am to 12:30pm, Wednesday and Saturday are 10am to 1pm, and Friday afternoon is 1:30pm to 4:30pm. There's no Sunday opening listed at all.
It's free to get in, which for a library isn't exactly a surprise, but worth saying when you're planning a cheap morning out. With hours this tight, it's the sort of visit you build the rest of your day around rather than squeeze in on a whim.
