What it’s like

Free children's cinema, Lego Club and a Coder Dojo programming club at a local library with parking right outside.

This is one of those places you forget is an option until you need a free afternoon sorted. Alongside the usual book borrowing for kids, there's a Lego Club and a Coder Dojo programming club, plus a children's cinema showing on site. None of it costs anything to join in with, which makes it an easy one to slot into a wet Saturday without checking your bank balance first.

Getting a library card is dead simple too. Turn up with one form of address ID, fill in a short form, and your child can start borrowing straight away. There's no minimum age, which is a nice touch, though anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian's signature on the form. As an associate library of Sheffield City Libraries, Greenhill can also get hold of books from other branches if what you want isn't on the shelf.

Parking's free and right there, either in front on Hemper Lane or round the side on Reney Road, so there's no faff about finding a space before you even get through the door. It's worth remembering this is a proper community library rather than a big activity centre, so the draw is the clubs and the cinema rather than anything flashy.

Is it free to join and take part in the clubs?

There's nothing on site about booking ahead, so it looks like you can just turn up.

No, you can have a card from the day you're born. Under 16s just need a parent or guardian to sign the form.

Is there parking?

Free parking right in front on Hemper Lane, plus more space to the side on Reney Road.
