Jocks Lane Miniature Railway

WHERE

What it’s like
A pint-sized train ride on Open Days for £1 a head, weather and volunteers allowing.
A ride round a small track is the whole point here: hop on, trundle along, hop off, queue up and do it again if the line's not too long. At £1 a person it's about as cheap as a day out gets, so you can let a small one have three goes without feeling it in your pocket.
It only runs on the 2026 Open Days listed, from 1pm to 4pm, so this isn't a turn-up-any-Saturday sort of place. It's also run by volunteers, and the site is upfront that services depend on staff being available and the weather playing along, which is fair enough for a small operation but does mean a planned trip can get scrapped if it's chucking it down.
Bring both cash and a card, since they take either. Given the price and the format, this suits a very young child who's happy going round and round on a little train rather than one after a big day of rides and shows.

What if it's bad weather?
It might not run. The site says services depend on staff availability and the weather.
