What it’s like
A play café for under-sixes in Pudsey, with pre-booked sessions and parties for up to 30 kids.
This one's aimed squarely at the toddler and preschool crowd, ages one to six. Sessions have to be booked in advance, which is a bit of a faff if you're the spontaneous type, but it does mean the place isn't rammed when you turn up. Socks are compulsory for every child, so pop a pair in the bag or you're gambling on the venue having spares.
Weekday mornings run 9am to 3.30pm, though Tuesday cuts off at 1pm, and weekends stretch a bit longer at 10am to 6pm. That gives you a decent window for a morning or afternoon visit without it eating your whole day.
If you're planning a birthday, you get the venue exclusively for 90 minutes, up to 30 children, at £189 for venue hire alone. Add catering at £4.50 a head, or throw in jelly and ice cream for another £1.50 per child if you want the full spread. Worth knowing there's a non-refundable £40 deposit to lock in the date, and decorations have to stand alone rather than get taped to the walls, so skip the balloon arch that needs fixing anywhere.
They're properly geared up for allergies and dietary needs, catering for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy intolerant kids if you tell them in advance. You can't bring outside food to a catered party, though for venue-only bookings you're welcome to cater it yourself and arrive fifteen minutes early to set up.
