What it’s like
An 18+ venue for drag, burlesque and cabaret nights, not a kids' outing.
This is an adults' venue, so leave the kids at home. What's on here is comedy shows, cabaret, and drag and burlesque nights, in a multipurpose studio space across two areas.
The room itself is flat throughout, with a mix of polished concrete and laminate wood flooring, and wheelchair entry to both areas. There's a wheelchair viewing position built into the seating plans, but you need to pre-book it rather than sort it on the door. Accessible toilets are on site, and there's wifi and a café if you want to grab a drink before the show starts.
Getting there on foot from Brighton station takes about 10 minutes, though the site is upfront that there are a few hills on the way, worth knowing if you're pushing a wheelchair or just not in the mood for an incline. Brighton and Hove's buses run wheelchair friendly services too, and it's a straightforward drive if you'd rather come by car.
If you or anyone in your party gets PA or carer tickets elsewhere, it's worth knowing Ironworks does something similar. They'll give a free PA or carer ticket if you can show a DLA letter at the middle or higher rate, a PIP letter at the enhanced daily living or mobility rate, an Access Card (or equivalent) with a +1, or a CredAbility Access Card in the +1 category.
