What it’s like
Weekly musical theatre training in Glasgow, mixing acting, singing and dance with exams and two big shows a year.
This is a proper training setup rather than a drop-in class. Kids work on acting with script and acting through song, plus jazz, tap and ballet, so a term here looks more like a stage school timetable than an hour of messing about on a Saturday. There's LAMDA and Trinity College London exam prep built in too, which will suit a child who likes having a certificate to work towards, and individual vocal coaching for anyone serious about the singing side.
Groups are split by school stage, Junior MT for P3-P4 and P5-P7, Senior MT for S1 upwards, so your seven-year-old won't be sharing a room with a sixteen-year-old belting out a solo. The pay-off for all that structure is the Summer and Christmas productions, which is the bit most kids will actually remember, the term of classes building towards an actual show rather than just more classes.
It's £135 a month by direct debit across all three groups, which is a proper commitment rather than a one-off ticket price, and there's no getting round that by paying per session. If you're driving in, on-street parking is free after 6pm, and there are NCP car parks on West Nile Street and in Buchanan Galleries about three minutes' walk away for anyone arriving earlier.
