What it’s like
An hour locked in a themed room, cracking puzzles as a team before the clock runs out.
You get sixty minutes, a private room, and a set of puzzles that only make sense if everyone chips in. There are fifteen different themed rooms to pick from, and the booking's exclusive to your group, so no strangers get added in to make up numbers. Two players is the minimum, which is worth knowing if it's just you and one child fancying a go.
The age rules are the bit to read properly before you book. Under-12s need an adult in the room with them the whole game, not just in the building. Kids aged 12 to 16 get a bit more freedom on certain rooms, but only if an adult stays on the premises, and anyone under 18 needs a grown-up on site full stop. Under-6s aren't charged at all, so a sleeping baby in a carrier is apparently fine, though the puzzles are pitched well above toddler level.
No photos or filming once you're inside, which stings a bit given how proud kids get of the bit they cracked themselves, but you do get a free group photo after the game. Some rooms have crawling tunnels or ladders, which is a great detail for an eight-year-old and a genuine problem for anyone pregnant or with mobility needs. There's no wheelchair access anywhere, and staircases feature in some of the buildings too.
The cancellation policy is unforgiving. No refunds ever, and if you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice you cannot even reschedule, you just lose the booking. Turn up 15 minutes late and the timer starts without you; 20 minutes late and the whole game's cancelled. There's no parking on site, so factor in a walk from the nearest paid car park if you're driving in.

Plan your visit
How long does it take?
The game itself is 60 minutes, timed from when you start, not from when you arrive.
Do we need to book ahead?
Booking online is the safer bet to guarantee a slot. Walk-ins are accepted if there's space on the day.
Is it OK to bring a younger child?
Under-6s aren't charged and can tag along, but under-12s need an adult actually in the room with them, not just nearby.
What happens if we're late or need to cancel?
15 minutes late and the timer starts without you, 20 minutes late and the booking's cancelled with no refund. Cancel within 24 hours of your slot and you lose it, no reschedule.
Is there parking nearby?
Nothing on site. The nearest paid car park is NCP Hartshead Square.
Can we do it for a birthday?
There's no fixed party package, but the site mentions deals through the week and escape rooms make an easy birthday outing for a group.
