What it’s like
A tropical garden tucked into the Suffolk countryside, open Sunday afternoons through summer, with a gift shop to browse on the way out.
The whole point here is the tropical planting, banana leaves and palms and the sort of foliage you don't expect to find this far from anywhere warm. It's a wander rather than an activity, so it suits kids who are happy pottering and pointing out odd-looking plants rather than ones who need a slide to head for.
It only opens on Sundays, and only from July to September, so this isn't a spontaneous rainy-Tuesday visit. Hours are 11am to 5pm, which gives you a decent stretch of afternoon without needing to rush. A pound for a child to get in is about as cheap as a day out gets, and £6 for an adult isn't going to break anyone.
There's a gift shop on site if you want a plant or a trinket to take home, but that's the extent of what's listed. Treat it as a slow afternoon among unusual greenery rather than a big attraction with rides and cafés, and you'll have the right idea going in.
