What it’s like

Coached BMX racing sessions on a proper track, booked online in advance rather than a turn-up-and-ride setup.

This is a BMX track with coaching sessions rather than a free-for-all pump track, so the riding here is structured: you book a session, turn up to the right group, and get racing practice on the track itself under a coach.

Sessions start at the shed south of the tennis courts in Haggerston Park, which is a short walk from the actual track, so build that in when you're timing your arrival. Booking is online and paid through PayPal, and it's worth knowing that members get first refusal on Tuesday evenings, a full 24 hours before the general public can book. That early-access window is a bit of a faff if you're not a member and keen on a popular slot.

The catch that trips people up is booking the wrong group. If you book a session that doesn't match your rider's level or age group, the site says you'll simply be rejected on the day, so it pays to double check before you pay. Sessions can also be cancelled for bad weather or if a coach isn't available, though refunds are given when that happens. They post cancellations on Facebook, and the rule is straightforward: no cancellation posted means the session is going ahead.

Plan your visit

How do we book a session?

Online, paid through PayPal. Members get a 24-hour head start on Tuesday evenings before slots open up to everyone else.

What if we book the wrong session?

You will be turned away if the group does not match your rider, so check the right one before booking.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Sessions can be cancelled for weather or if a coach is not available, and you get a refund when that happens. They post any cancellation on Facebook, so no news means it is running.

Where do we go when we arrive?

Head to the shed south of the tennis courts in Haggerston Park first, not straight to the track. It is a short walk from there.
