What it’s like

A board game café where you pick from hundreds of games, get staff help learning the rules, and settle in with pizza and cocktails.

This isn't a soft play or a splash pad, it's a proper sit-down games café: hundreds of board games on the shelves, staff who'll teach you the rules if you're stuck, and a vegan and vegetarian menu of handmade pizzas and cakes to keep everyone fed while you play. There's alcohol on the menu too, cocktails and beer alongside the coffee and soft drinks, which tells you this leans as much towards grown-ups having a night out as it does towards an afternoon with the kids.

Walk-ins are welcome when there's space, but they're upfront that booking is the only way to guarantee a table, so if you've got a fixed window before bedtime it's worth sorting in advance. Saturday's the one day you could turn up mid-morning, from 10:30am, everything else starts in the evening from 5:30pm or 6pm, which makes it a tricky fit for younger children who don't do late nights.

Events like the Midweek Mixer add another layer, £8 on the door or £6.50 if you're a member, and membership itself is £34.99 a year for 10% off food, cheaper games and lower table deposits. That's a fair outlay if you're only going once, but it starts to make sense if games nights become a regular fixture.
