What it’s like
High ropes, zip lines and giant suspended nets through the pines at Sherwood, with courses sorted by age and height.
This is proper tree canopy stuff, not a padded playground version of it. The Nets Adventure has giant bouncy nets slung 30 feet up between the trees, open to anyone over a metre tall, and it's the one to pick if you've got a mix of ages who all want to be up there together for the full two hours. The Treetop Adventure and Treetop Adventure Plus are an hour in the trees each, working through zip lines and rope crossings, with the Plus needing a bit more height and confidence. Treetop Challenge and Challenge Plus are the serious end, for age 10 and up with a 1.4m minimum, and that's where the bigger zip lines live.
Prices run from £20.95 for the Treetop Adventure up to £41.95 for Challenge Plus, and none of it needs booking in advance though there's a link to do it anyway. Allow two hours in total even for the one-hour sessions, since harnessing up and the safety brief eat into the time before anyone touches a rope. Closed shoes only, no flip-flops or Crocs, and belongings aren't kept secure at the cabin so the advice is to leave bags in the car.
The café does hot food and drinks, and there are picnic benches dotted round the forest if you'd rather bring your own. Toilets are a three minute walk away in the visitor centre, so it's worth using them before you start rather than mid session. Parking is paid and run by Forestry England, and you settle up on your way back to the car.
Wheelchair access covers the forest and car park fine, and most of the ground beneath the courses too, though the paths get narrow watching Treetop Challenge specifically. Dogs can come along but not up the ropes, so you'll want someone free to mind them while the rest of you climb.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
From £20.95 for the Treetop Adventure up to £41.95 for Challenge Plus. Forest Segway is £20.95 and there's a seasonal Sundown Adventures session at £38.95 for age 10 and up.
Do we need to book ahead?
No, but there's a booking link if you'd rather sort it before you turn up.
How long does a session actually take?
The Treetop sessions are an hour in the trees but allow up to two hours total for harnessing and the safety brief. Nets Adventure runs for two hours.
What age is it suitable for?
Treetop Adventure starts at age 4, Nets Adventure is recommended from age 3, and Treetop Challenge and Challenge Plus need age 10 and a 1.4m minimum height.
Is there parking?
Yes, paid parking run by Forestry England. You pay on your way back to the car, and it's worth leaving extra time to find a space.
What should we wear?
Closed shoes are required. No heels, slip-ons, flip-flops or Crocs.
Can I leave bags or valuables somewhere safe?
There's space for small items at the cabin but it isn't secure, so belongings are left at your own risk. Better to leave bags in the car if you can.
Where are the toilets?
In the visitor centre, about three minutes' walk from the course, so it's best to go before you start.
Is there anywhere to eat?
There's a café on site serving hot food, drinks and snacks, and picnic benches around the forest if you bring your own.
Can dogs come along?
Well behaved dogs are welcome on site and the café has a dog-friendly area, but they can't join you on the course itself.
Is it accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs?
The forest and car park are both wheelchair accessible, and most of the area under the courses too. Watching Treetop Challenge specifically involves narrower, uneven paths.
Can we book a birthday party?
Yes, you book the activity online and can add party bags for £5.95. A forest shelter can be hired separately by phoning ahead, and there's no minimum or maximum group size.
