What it’s like

Paint your own pottery, or get stuck into handprints, baby bump casts and pet paw prints on a bowl.

This is a pottery painting studio with a sideline in the sort of keepsakes you actually want to keep. Pick a plain piece and glaze it yourself, or go for one of the cast options: family handprint vases, baby prints onto pottery, even a baby bump bowl made from a belly cast. There's pet prints too, if you'd rather immortalise the dog than the toddler.

Booking is required, and there's no online link for it, so you'll need to ring or message ahead rather than just turning up. That's a bit of a faff if you're the spontaneous type, but for the cast work it makes sense: someone needs to have the materials ready for a hand or belly cast, not just a shelf of blank mugs.

There's indoor seating and food on site, so a painting session can turn into a proper sit-down rather than a quick in-and-out. Wheelchair access is good and it's pushchair-friendly too, which matters if you're bringing a baby along for a print session and juggling a change bag at the same time.

The handprint vases and baby bump bowls are the ones people come back for. A standard paint-your-own piece is lovely for an afternoon, but the casting services are the reason to book ahead rather than just wander in.
