What it’s like
Feed the animals, groom a pony, collect eggs and explore three barns of hands-on farm activities near Fleetwood.
This is a proper hands-on farm day, not a look-but-don't-touch one. Kids can feed and pet the animals, collect eggs, groom a pony, take a tractor ride and watch the animal shows, and the Animal Barn adds foraging boxes, reptile meets, small animal handling and chick handling on top of that. With ages 1 to 16 catered for, there's enough variety that a toddler and a ten-year-old can both find their own thing to get stuck into.
Admission is £10 for adults and children alike, £9 for carers, or £38 for a family of four, which isn't pocket change for a farm visit but the activity list is long enough to fill most of a day. There's no need to book for family groups, you just turn up between 10am and 5pm, though last entry is 4pm and they're honest that arriving earlier gets you more out of it. Large groups do need to ring ahead to sort a timetable.
Weather isn't much of an excuse to skip it either. Most of the farm is paved, there are three undercover barns plus a museum and indoor play area, and the site itself says there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing. Wellies aren't essential but they might help. Worth knowing that the paddock areas aren't wheelchair accessible when it's wet, and the museum's upper floor isn't accessible at all, so that's a genuine gap rather than just small print.
The Tractor Shed Bistro runs breakfast until noon and lunch until half three, and picnics are allowed if you'd rather bring your own. Birthday parties are £15 a child, run 1:30 to 3:30pm and include farm access, animal activities, play areas and a 45-minute buffet in the party room, with numbers from 10 up to 40 children.
