What it’s like

Free to walk into, then it's tokens for the VR pods, pinball and pool tables.

There's no entry fee here, you just walk in and buy tokens from the machine by the bar. Five tokens for a fiver, twelve for a tenner, or twenty five for £20 if you know you'll be there a while, and the bigger bundles work out cheaper per go. Kids can bounce between retro arcade cabinets, pinball and pool tables, with the VR pods, including roller-coaster simulations, as the thing they'll want to save their tokens for.

The site says all ages are welcome, so this reads as one for families to walk into together rather than a strictly kids' venue, and it's worth having a plan for who's minding the tokens before the little ones burn through them on the first machine they see. It's open every day from half ten, with Friday and Saturday nights stretching to half nine, which is later than most arcades bother staying open.

There's a bar on site doing cocktails, beer, wine and cider alongside soft drinks and hot drinks, so it's set up as much for the adults hanging about as for the kids playing. If you fancy the place to yourselves, private hire is £299 in total, split as a £99.50 deposit to secure the date, non-refundable, then another £99.50 due a fortnight before the event.
