What it’s like

A monthly grown-up night out for stand-up comedy, doors at 7:15pm with food before the show starts at 8pm.

This is a night out for the adults, not the kids: stand-up comedy on the first Thursday of every month, doors open at 7:15pm and the show gets going at 8pm. Standard tickets in advance are £17, or you can push to £25 for a front row balcony table if you want the better view and don't mind paying for it.

There's a Gong Show at £12 for those who fancy something looser, and if you're after the build-up to a big final, the British Comedian of the Year heats run at £15 and the semi-finals at £17. December brings a Christmas Special at £20, which is the one to book early if you're planning a festive night with friends.

Food is on offer pre-show, between 7:15pm and 8pm, so the sensible move is to arrive with doors rather than turn up right on 8pm hoping to eat first. Parking is free, about 200 metres away, which is an easy walk but worth knowing if you're in heels or it's chucking it down.

It's a once-a-month fixture rather than a weekly one, so if a date works for you it's worth grabbing tickets in advance rather than hoping to walk in on the night.
