Fort Theatre
WHERE
Glasgow
What it’s like
A local theatre in Bishopbriggs staging family shows, with full wheelchair access and its own small car park.
This is a proper theatre rather than a hall with a stage bolted on, and it's set up to take a crowd of families in for a panto or a family show. The main stage can take up to five wheelchair users, which is more thought than a lot of venues give it, and there's an accessible toilet with baby changing right there too.
Getting there without a car is easy enough. Bishopbriggs Station is on the Queen Street line, running every 30 minutes, and it's a five minute walk from the platform to the door. The First Bus 88, 89 and 89A all stop at Bishopbriggs Cross too, so if you don't fancy driving in for an evening show you've got options.
If you are driving, there's a small car park to the side of the building, though it's shared with Brackenbrae House next door, so don't assume you'll always get a space right outside. Turn up a bit early on a busy night.
They also mention autism friendly strategies for communication and knowing what to expect in the building, which is worth a call ahead if that would help your child settle in before the show starts.

Yes, all the spaces are accessible and the main stage can fit up to five wheelchair users. They ask mobility restricted visitors to let them know before the performance so a space can be reserved.
Is there parking?
There's a small car park to the side of the building, but it's shared with Brackenbrae House next door so spaces aren't guaranteed.
How do you get there without a car?
Bishopbriggs Station on the Queen Street line runs every 30 minutes and it's a five minute walk to the theatre. First Bus services 88, 89 and 89A also stop at Bishopbriggs Cross.
Do you offer any support for autistic children?
They say they can put strategies in place to help with communication and knowing what to expect in the building. It's best to contact them directly to arrange this ahead of your visit.
