Flourish at Glenavon Farm
WHERE
Saltford
What it’s like
A working farm site where kids paint pottery or try a craft workshop while you eat proper food next door.
The pottery painting barn is the obvious first stop, and from what they list there's plenty else to dip into: printmaking, stained glass, lamp making, all run as proper craft workshops rather than a five-minute activity table. There's a Mum & Baby Craft Club running weekly too, so if you've got a little one and fancy something that isn't soft play, that's there. Around Halloween they put on a family Make & Create Workshop, and they've had a Dog Show event as well, which tells you this is a site that likes an occasion.
Food is not an afterthought here. There's a Foodhall with fresh produce and fine food to browse, and the Kitchen restaurant does a seasonal menu with homemade items alongside a daily afternoon tea service. Walk-ins are fine for lunch, which takes the pressure off, though evening events and afternoon tea need booking a week ahead, so don't turn up expecting a table for that on spec.
Groups are welcome at the craft workshops and events, and larger parties can ask for particular seating, which makes it a reasonable shout for a birthday that wants a bit more than the usual party room. There's also a Rewards Card at £15 a month that gets you unlimited takeaway teas, coffees and hot chocolates from the deli counter, a nice touch if you're likely to be back often rather than a one-off.
