What it’s like

Bouldering without ropes or harnesses, with a dedicated Den area for the under-7s and routes up to V12 for anyone chasing a challenge.

This is a bouldering gym, not a rope-and-harness climbing wall, so the whole point is short, tricky routes close to the ground with crash mats underneath. Little ones get their own patch called The Den, built specifically for younger climbers to potter about in, and the site says it's suitable from under-7s upwards if you're happy to register as their supervising adult. Older kids and teens have proper routes to get stuck into, graded from V0 up to V12, with the lower grades colour-coded so a first-timer knows where to start.

One registered adult can supervise two under-18s, which is worth knowing before you turn up with three cousins in tow. There's also an auto-belay setup and top-out walls for the ones who've outgrown the beginner stuff, plus a Mega-Roof feature that's clearly the bit they've built the place around. Kids Club runs as Boulder Monkeys for 7 to 10 year olds and Boulder Juniors for 11 plus, and they do bouldering parties if you want the birthday sorted somewhere other than your front room.

Entry isn't cheap for a family outing: £16 standard adult, £12 for under-18s, £8.50 for under-7s. If you're planning regular trips the punch cards or the £59.99 monthly subscription work out a lot better than paying full whack each visit. There's free parking at Freemans Parc and a cafe on site doing hot food, pizzas and proper coffee, so you're not stuck eating from a vending machine while you wait for a session to finish.

It's open long hours on weekdays, 10 till 10, and a bit shorter at weekends, 10 till 7. There's no booking required and no stated time limit once you're in, so a quick after-school session or a whole rainy Saturday afternoon both work.
