What it’s like

Hands-on glassmaking and craft sessions where over-12s shape molten glass into flowers, beads and pendants under supervision.

This is a proper hands-on studio, not a watch-and-admire one. The main draw is lampwork glassmaking, where you work molten glass over an open flame to shape flowers, beads and pendants, with an instructor talking you through balance and colour layering as you go. There's also fuse bead pixel art with over 200 colours, candle making, soap making and perfume blending with more than 150 essential oils to pick from, so the glasswork isn't the only option if flames near your hands sound like a hard pass.

Sessions run 1 to 3 hours and cost £49 for a taster or two-hour creative workshop, rising to £59 for the general workshop, so this is a treat booking rather than a rainy Tuesday filler. The minimum age is 12, and under-18s need an adult with them, though that adult can just sit and watch for free, which is a nice touch if your teenager wants to do this without you hovering over the glass torch.

Worth knowing before you commit: this is proper open-flame, high-temperature work, so safety kit and supervision are part of every session. Some finished pieces need cooling time and can't come home with you the same day, which is a bit of a letdown if you were hoping to walk out with your flower there and then. Turn up late and they can shorten your session without any refund, so it pays to leave plenty of time getting there, especially if you're relying on street parking nearby rather than anything guaranteed on site.

Private sessions and group bookings are available too, which makes this a decent option for a teenager's birthday or a small group wanting to make something together rather than just eat cake.
