What it’s like
Paint your own pottery or have a go on the wheel, with birthday parties from £15 a head at weekends.
This is a paint-your-own-pottery studio with a proper wheel room too, so it's not just plates and mugs with a brush. Kids can sit and paint a piece, try hand building, or have a go throwing on the wheel, and the Sugar Skull hand build session looks like the one that'll get the most requests for a repeat visit. It's set up for six and up, so this isn't one for toddlers wandering off with a paintbrush.
Birthday parties are the main event here and they're not cheap but they're not trying to be soft play prices either. A painting party for 8 to 12 kids works out at £18 a head for two hours, hand building the Sugar Skull comes in a bit less at £15, and if your child's set their heart on the wheel that jumps to £60 for a group of 6 to 10 or a steep £250 if it's a small crew of five or under. You'll need a deposit of £50 to £100 to lock the date in, and they want you to phone rather than book online, which is a bit old school but at least means you're talking to an actual person about numbers and timings.
One thing to flag: whatever gets painted or fired doesn't come home with you on the day. There's a one to two week turnaround while it goes through the kiln, so don't promise a birthday child they're walking out with their masterpiece under their arm.
It's open weekends only, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm, so this is a weekend plan rather than a wet Tuesday afternoon rescue. Parking is free but tight, only 6 to 8 spaces on site with overflow on the road, and the site warns sat nav sometimes sends you to the wrong spot.

How much does a birthday party cost?
A painting party for 8 to 12 kids is £18 a head, the Sugar Skull hand build is £15 a head for up to 16 children. Wheel parties are pricier, £60 for a group of 6 to 10 or £250 if it's a smaller group of up to five.
Do we need to book?
Yes, and you'll need to phone ahead rather than book online. A deposit of £50 to £100 is required to secure the slot.
What age is it suitable for?
Six and up. It's built around kids old enough to paint carefully or handle hand building, not a toddler activity.
What are the opening hours?
Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4.30pm. There's no mention of weekday opening.
Is there parking?
Free parking on site, but only 6 to 8 spaces, so it fills up. Overflow parking is on the road nearby.
Do we get to take the pottery home the same day?
No, pieces go off for firing and take one to two weeks to be ready.
Can adults have a party here too?
Adult painting parties start at £30 a head for 8 or more guests, and there are wheel options too, from £65 a head or £100 for a private group of 5 plus.
