WHERE

What it’s like

A food hall of independent street food stalls, live music and soft serve, open into the evening most nights.

This is one for when you want to feed everyone different things without an argument about where to eat. A handful of independent vendors set up under one roof, so one of you can go for Scottish seafood while another queues for Thai or Nigerian food, and nobody has to compromise on a single menu. There's soft serve, sundaes and cookies too, which is usually the bit the kids remember most clearly on the way out.

Live music and events run alongside the food, so it has a bit more buzz to it than your average canteen stop. That's a plus if you want somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, though it also means it won't always be the quiet, calm meal you might want with an overtired toddler in tow.

It's open long hours, from midday to 9pm most of the week and till 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Some events need no booking at all, and group bookings can be arranged if you're planning to descend as a bigger crowd, which is handy for a birthday or a family get-together rather than just a quick bite.
