What it’s like

Bouldering, auto-belay ropes and climbing classes for kids from age one right up to teenagers.

Bouldering is the bit most kids gravitate to first: walls up to 4 metres, safety matting underneath, no harness faff. Once they've had enough of that there's roped climbing with auto-belay devices, so you don't need a second adult acting as belayer if you're on your own with them. The site lists junior climbing classes and courses from age 1, which sounds early but the Early Years sessions are built around under-5s climbing with a parent or carer right there.

For the older ones there are Holiday Club sessions for age 7 and up, 3.5 hours of climbing games, which is a proper chunk of a day sorted if you're stuck for half-term plans. It's not cheap though. £14 for an adult and £8.50 for an under-18 adds up fast if there are a few of you, and shoe hire is another £3.50 on top, even for the free-entry under-5s, which feels like a bit of a sting when their feet barely touch the wall.

They're open early, from 6am on weekdays, and late most nights too. Every Friday between 9 and 11am there's a quieter sensory-friendly session, no drill work and the music turned down, which is worth knowing if a loud echoey climbing centre isn't your kid's scene. There's also an accessible climbing offer run with Access Sport for those with complex needs, disabilities or who are neurodivergent.

One genuine catch before you set off: the car park has a 2.2 metre height restriction, so if you're in anything van-shaped you'll want to plan on street parking instead.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£14 for an adult, £8.50 for an under-18, and under-5s go in free. Shoe hire is £3.50 extra, and that applies even if entry itself was free.

Is it OK for a toddler?

There are Early Years Climbing Sessions built for under-5s climbing alongside a parent or carer, and junior classes start from age 1.

What can older kids do here?

Bouldering up to 4 metres with matting below, and roped climbing using auto-belay devices so they don't always need a second person belaying. There are also Holiday Club sessions for age 7 and up, running 3.5 hours.

Do you need to book?

The site doesn't list an online booking link, so it's likely you can turn up, though for something like a Holiday Club session it's the sort of thing worth sorting ahead.

Is there parking?

There's a car park, but it has a 2.2 metre height restriction at the entrance. High-sided vehicles need to use on-street parking instead.

Are there quieter sessions for sensory needs?

Yes, every Friday from 9 to 11am there's no drill work and the music is turned down or off. There are also accessible sessions run with Access Sport for those with complex needs, disabilities or who are neurodivergent.

What are the opening hours?

Monday to Friday it's 6am to 10pm, weekends 9am to 9pm, and bank holidays 9am to 10pm.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

One accompanying carer gets in free when the person they're supporting pays for their own entry.
