What it’s like
Hands-on animal petting, a sandpit and a go-kart track, plus tea rooms for when everyone needs a sit down.
This is a proper hands-on farm visit. Kids get stuck into feeding and petting the animals, there's a play park and sandpit for when they've had enough of goats, and a go-kart track for burning off the last bit of energy before lunch. There are indoor reading nooks too, handy if the weather turns and you need five minutes of quiet.
Entry is £6.50 for adults and children, under 1s go free, and concessions are £6. That's not bad value for a full farm morning, though card payments need a £2 minimum spend and they don't take AMEX, so it's cash or a proper shop if you're paying by card. Booking online is recommended to secure your spot, but you can also just turn up and buy walk-in tickets at the tearooms.
The tearooms do homemade bakes and locally sourced food, and it gets genuinely busy at peak times, so book a table if you want to sit down rather than hover. One thing to flag: you can't bring your own picnic onto the site, it's farm-purchased food only, which stings a bit if you'd packed sandwiches expecting a patch of grass to eat them on. Paths are well maintained for pushchairs and wheelchairs around the fields and play park, and dogs are welcome on a lead.
Parking is on-site with two disabled badge spaces, but it fills up fast on weekends, school holidays and event days. There's an overspill car park a short walk away, though that depends on the weather holding. If you're pregnant, they ask that you avoid touching the sheep, lambs or goat kids, which is worth knowing before you get there and your toddler's already holding one out to you.
