What it’s like

A contemporary art space in Cardiff, open Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with buggy access throughout.

This is a small contemporary art gallery rather than a hands-on kids' venue, so don't expect activity tables or a trail. What you get is changing exhibition space to walk round at your own pace, which suits an older child who can look at things without needing to touch them more than it suits a toddler who can't.

It's open Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and Sundays 11am to 3pm, so a shorter Sunday visit before lunch is an easy way to try it without committing the whole afternoon. The space is wheelchair and buggy accessible, so getting round with a pram isn't a problem.

Parking is the bit to plan for. The gallery points people towards Penylan Library car park, and failing that there's on-street parking nearby on Welfield Road, Albany Road and Bangor Street opposite the gallery, though the on-street bays are time-limited to one or two hours. If you're only popping in for a quick look round an exhibition that's plenty, but it does mean this isn't really a park-and-linger spot.
