What it’s like

A 25 metre pool and a smaller learner pool for family swims, plus soft play style parties in the sports hall.

There's a proper 25 metre pool here for lane swims and a 12 metre learner pool that suits younger kids who aren't ready for the big one. Fun family swim sessions run alongside baby and toddler swimming lessons, so you can build up from splashing about with a parent to actual lengths.

Outside the pool, the sports hall covers badminton, squash and table tennis, and there's an outdoor football pitch if the kids want to run about on dry land instead. The fitness studios and health suite (sauna, steam room, relaxation area) are more for the grown-ups, but they mean you're not just standing at the poolside the whole visit if you fancy a sauna while someone else has the kids.

Parties are split by age. The Betty Bug Party is 90 minutes in the sports hall with a soft play castle, aimed at under fives. The Small Pool Party gives you an hour in the small pool with floats and inflatables and an hour in the activity room for food and games, for under nines. The Dino Dash Party is the sports hall one with an inflatable, table tennis and music, for ages three and up. Members get a discount on all of them.

Parking's free, on Huckerby's Field opposite the centre, and there are a few buses that stop within a short walk if you're not driving. It's level access throughout with an accessible changing room and toilets, so a buggy or a wheelchair isn't going to be a problem getting in.
