What it’s like

A play town for toddlers and a bouldering wall for the bigger ones, run in timed sessions at a Broomhill centre.

The little ones get a play town to pootle round, all soft and safe for the under-fives, while anyone older can have a go at the bouldering wall with proper climbing classes. It's a neat split: one bit for toddling and pretend shopping, one bit for actually climbing something. Categorised as a climbing centre but really it's two different mornings out under one roof.

Mini Broomhill runs in set two-hour slots, Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and you need to book ahead rather than just turning up. £6.50 gets a child over one in, babies from six months to a year are £2, which is a fair way to price a session where the baby mostly just sits there looking bewildered. Everyone going into the no-shoe play space needs their own socks, so that's one more thing to remember on top of the change bag.

There's a café on site doing hot drinks from £2, soft drinks from 80p and kids' snacks from £1, and adults are asked to keep food and drink to the café seating while they watch from nearby. It's not a huge sprawling soft play, so a couple of hours feels about the right length before everyone's ready to move on. If anyone in your group has an access or communication need, they want you to get in touch before you book so they can talk through the space with you.
