Brighton's Murder Mystery - Escape Room
BEST FOR
Ages 7+
WHERE
Brighton
What it’s like
A 45-minute race to solve a murder mystery in an old mansion set-up, upstairs in a Brighton pub.
You get 45 minutes locked into a fictional mansion, working through clues to figure out who did it. It's built for groups, from 1 up to 10 people, and the site is upfront that under-7s can tag along with the team for free rather than being excluded outright, which is a nice touch if you've got a mixed-age group and don't fancy splitting up.
Seven is the minimum age to actually play, so this isn't one for younger kids to lead on, but a seven or eight-year-old who likes puzzles and a bit of spooky drama should be well within their depth alongside older siblings or parents. Booking is required, though you can apparently do it online up to an hour before you turn up if there's space, which takes the pressure off planning too far ahead.
It's based inside The World's End Pub, so there's food, hot drinks and alcoholic drinks available over the counter if you want to make a proper afternoon of it before or after your session. One thing to flag: it's not wheelchair accessible, since the room is up at the top of the building. If that's a dealbreaker, the same people run Escape the Vault, which is step-free and on the ground floor.
