What it’s like
An upside-down house where every room is built for gravity-defying photos, done and dusted in twenty minutes.
This is a photo experience rather than a wander-round gallery. The rooms are built upside down, so a lounge, a kitchen or a bedroom get flipped so the furniture is on the ceiling and you pose on the "floor" to get the gravity-defying shot. It suits kids who are happy to strike a pose and don't mind being told where to stand, and the whole thing is over in 15 to 20 minutes, so don't build a whole afternoon around it.
Booking is a timed slot, and it's genuinely worth doing online rather than chancing it at the door, since slot holders get priority when things get busy. Under 12s need an adult with them the whole way round, and anyone messing about grabbing at the props gets asked to leave, which is fair enough given how staged everything is.
The catch is access. The main entrance is only 80cm wide and there's no lift or ramp to the second floor, just a spiral staircase, so if you're pushing a buggy or using a wheelchair you're limited to the part-accessible ground floor. Prams have to stay outside on the terrace rather than coming in, and the venue is upfront that they won't take responsibility for anything left out there.
At £7.45 to get in it's not a cheap twenty minutes, though under-3s and carers go free, and there's a £14.95 fast-track option at busy times if queuing isn't your idea of fun. Just don't expect a refund if the weather turns or the queue's longer than you hoped, since that's specifically ruled out.
