What it’s like
A beachside bar and terrace with live music, heated beach huts and a street food menu, children welcome until early evening.
This one's a bit of a mixed bag, in a good way. It's a live music venue with a bar and restaurant on the beach, but it also does heated beach huts and a covered terrace, so it works as a proper sit-down meal out as much as a gig night. Kids are allowed in, which surprises people given the name, but there's a firm cut-off: welcome until 9pm most nights, and 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, always with an adult in tow.
The beach huts are the bit worth booking ahead for. They're fully heated, can be booked for back-to-back slots so you're not watching the clock every two hours, and one even comes with karaoke if you fancy making an evening of it. The terrace has shaded, covered spots too, but you have to ask for those when you book, and it's capped at four hours max.
Food comes from a street food inspired menu running from 10am daily, served until 9pm in the warmer months and 7pm once autumn sets in. It's card only here, no cash, and you can't bring your own food or drink in, which is fair enough for a venue like this but worth knowing before you turn up with a picnic. There's no baby change or disabled toilet on site either, though public ones are a couple of minutes away, and the whole place is wheelchair accessible with a ramp if you need it.
Walk-ins are fine but they're upfront about being busy, so if you've got your heart set on a beach hut or a table on a Friday night, book ahead. Just be aware cancellations inside four weeks mean you lose your deposit, which stings if plans change last minute.
