What it’s like
Woodland trails, a big adventure playground and Go Ape's treetop courses, with entry to the park itself free.
The Emma Sallis Adventure Playground is the obvious first stop, with climbing frames and cradle swings that'll keep younger children busy while you find your bearings. Older kids and anyone feeling brave should head for Go Ape, the treetop rope courses and zip wires that make this more than just a park with swings. Save that one for last, since it's the bit they'll talk about on the way home.
Beyond the playground there are proper trails for walking, jogging or cycling, so a buggy or a bike will get plenty of use here. The park itself doesn't charge for entry, which makes it an easy one to add to the diary without checking the budget first, though Go Ape is a paid activity on top and worth planning around rather than turning up and hoping.
There are Forest School events too, aimed at children of different ages and abilities, which is a nice option if your lot are the sort who'd rather build a den than queue for a swing. The Four Seasons Café does hot food, including handmade pizzas, plus snacks and drinks, so you're not relying on a packed lunch surviving the walk.
Access has clearly been thought about. There's a Changing Places toilet with a peninsular design, a height-adjustable bench and room either side for carers, plus accessible toilets and blue badge parking near the main areas.
