What it’s like

Gymnastics sessions by age group, from three-year-old starters to intermediates, with a disability gymnastics class too.

This is where gymnastics happens in age bands rather than one free-for-all. Discover sessions are for 3 to 4-year-olds, Explore Beginners takes 5 to 7-year-olds, and Explore Intermediate is for the 8-plusses who want to actually work at moves rather than just tumble about. There's also a YOURS disability gymnastics session for ages 5 to 10, which is a nice thing to see listed rather than bolted on as an afterthought.

Sessions run across Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and the timings vary a lot: Tuesday stretches from mid-morning to 10pm, Friday finishes at teatime. Session lengths range from an hour up to three hours depending on which one you pick, so it's worth matching the session to your child's age and your afternoon rather than assuming they're all the same shape.

Birthday parties are a real option here too, with bouncy castle hire in either the main hall, which takes up to 100 people, or the smaller hall for a more modest 40. That's a decent range for anything from a big class party to a small family do.

Getting there is straightforward: there's a car park for 30 cars, plus on-road parking about 100 yards off if that fills up, and bus routes pass the centre with Walkden train station a mile away. The building is wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet, which matters given the disability gymnastics sessions on offer.
