What it’s like

Birthday parties built around proper art projects, from screen-printing tote bags to making fluffy slime.

This is a studio party built around making things, not just eating cake in a hired room. The list of projects is long: screen-printing on tote bags or t-shirts, decorating hairbrushes with gems and shells, wand making, decoupage, bead making, painting ceramic money boxes with paint pens. For a party you pick a main activity and a starter, so there's a proper project plus something smaller to fill the gaps before cake.

Parties run for two hours on Saturdays between 12:00 and 3:00, at the studio in Roe Green. £100 covers 10 children, with extra kids at £20 each, so a bigger group adds up but still works out reasonable per head. If you want everyone going home with a bit more than the thing they made, there's a party bag with art supplies for £8 a child.

Two hours is enough time for a main craft, a party game and cake, without either activity feeling rushed or the cake getting cold while glue dries. Screen-printing on a t-shirt is the one to save as the main event if your child likes a wearable result, while slime making is the sort of thing that gets requested again the second you leave. Booking ahead is needed, there's no turning up on spec for a party slot.
