What it’s like
Weekly ballet, modern theatre, acrobatics and Zumba classes for babies through to teens, with trials before you commit.
This is a proper dance school setup rather than a drop-in session. Babies and toddlers get the Parent and Tots Bop class, and from there kids move through ballet, modern theatre dance, acrobatics and Zumba Kids as they get older. There's a school show every year for pupils aged 2 and up, plus ISTD exams in Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap for those who want to take it further, and Medal Award assessments open to everyone regardless of exam ambitions.
You book a trial first and can try a few different styles before deciding what to stick with. Once you're in, the place is yours long term with no need to rebook each term, and it's paid monthly by autopay rather than in one lump sum. Uniform is required once you're past the trial stage (not needed for the trial itself or for Parent and Tots Bop), and you get a free fitting appointment before buying anything.
One thing to know before you turn up: there's no parent waiting area at any of the venues. You're watching through the window or sitting it out in the free car park, which is fine if you've brought a book but a bit of a faff if you were hoping to nip off and do the shopping. Classes stick to Derby City Council term dates too, so nothing runs in the school holidays, though there are separate holiday clubs covering multiple dance styles if you need to fill that gap.
Birthday parties are on offer as well, built around a Zumba Kids or dance tuition session with games, pass the parcel or a piñata, and party bags to take home.

Can we try a class before signing up?
Yes, you book a trial first and can try a few different dance styles to see which one sticks. If you decide to continue, you just reply to the follow-up email and they take care of the rest.
Is there a waiting area for parents?
There isn't. You watch through the windows at the venue or wait in the free car park.
Do classes run in the school holidays?
They follow Derby City Council term dates so there's a break in the holidays. Holiday clubs with multiple dance styles run separately if you want something during that time.
Can my child join partway through a term?
You don't need to wait for term to start. Some classes do fill up with a waiting list though, so a trial might not be available straight away for the popular ones.
How do we pay?
It's a monthly subscription taken by autopay on a debit or credit card, and your child's place stays reserved without rebooking each term.
Do we need uniform for the first class?
Not for the trial, and not for Parent and Tots Bop. Once you're enrolled properly you'll get a free fitting appointment before buying anything.
