What it’s like
Real electric karts racing through projected game worlds on the floor, no headset, no helmet, just a seatbelt.
This is proper karting, not a screen with a steering wheel bolted on. You get in an actual electric kart, but the track itself doesn't exist as walls and cones, it's projected onto the floor by ceiling rigs, so one game might have you dodging virtual snakes and the next has you painting the track in colour. The karts are wired up to react to whatever mode you're playing, so a hit from another driver actually slows you down.
A single game runs about 15 minutes, and they're upfront that 2 minutes 30 of that is just getting in, out of the pits and back again, leaving you roughly 12 and a half minutes of actual play that you can split across different modes. One session at £19 on a weekday feels like enough to try it, but if your crew wants to compare BattleRace against BattleColor and BattleVirus, the two-session ticket at £35 weekday is where the site nudges you, and it's not hard to see why.
The height cut-off is 4'9", which rules out a fair few primary-age kids, so this one's really built for older children and teenagers who can actually reach the pedals properly. There's no helmet requirement, since the karts have an anti-collision system that brakes for you, but do wear something you don't mind getting a bit dusty. Weekends push the price up a few pounds across every tier and the doors open earlier, from 10am on Saturday and Sunday, while weekdays don't start until midday.
Need to know
- Best for
- Older kids and teens over 4'9" tall, karts before consoles
- How long to allow
- Games generally last 15 minutes
- Weekend sessions cost a few pounds more across every ticket tier than weekdays
- Two consecutive games with the same players can skip the reboarding faff and score a free bonus round instead
- The karts brake themselves to avoid collisions, so it's calmer than it sounds
- Track dust is a given, so leave anything precious at home
Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
A single quick game is £19 on weekdays and £23 at weekends. Multi-session tickets bring the per-game price down, with two sessions at £35 weekday or £40 weekend.
How long does a game actually last?
About 15 minutes, though 2 minutes 30 of that is boarding and disembarking. You get roughly 12 and a half minutes of real driving to split across rounds or game modes.
Is there a height limit?
Yes, you need to be at least 4'9" (1.45m) to drive. Worth measuring your child before you promise them a race.
Do you need a VR headset or helmet?
Headset, the game modes project straight onto the floor and track. No helmet either, since the karts have an anti-collision system that brakes automatically.
What are the opening hours?
Monday to Thursday it's midday to 6.30pm, Friday runs to 10pm. Weekends open earlier, 10am on Saturday and Sunday.
What should we wear?
Something casual you don't mind getting a bit dusty. The site is blunt about it, don't wear your good white trainers.
