What it’s like

Weekly dance classes in Bootle covering everything from ballet and acro to musical theatre and singing, for ages 2 to 18.

This is a proper dance school setup rather than a one-off session: commercial dance, ballet, musical theatre, lyrical, acro and singing all sit on the timetable, and kids pick a lane depending on what they fancy. A two-year-old can start on the basics, and the classes run right up to 18, so there's room for a serious teenager working on technique as well as a small one who just likes bouncing around to music.

At £6 a class it's an easy price to try without committing to anything. Better still, there's a week's free trial on offer, which is the obvious way in if you're not sure whether your child will take to ballet over acro or singing over musical theatre. Worth using that week properly and trying more than one class type before picking a favourite.

Acro is probably the one that gets talked about most at pick-up, given the flips and balances involved, but musical theatre and singing give the less sporty kids somewhere to shine too. It suits children who already like moving to music rather than complete beginners who need a lot of one-to-one encouragement, though with such a broad range of styles on offer there's usually a class that fits a reluctant starter.
