What it’s like

Pumpkin picking, lambing chores and a heated pool in pods, with a five-plus age line on the lambing shed.

The pumpkin patch is the obvious draw in autumn, a real field with gravel paths rather than a car park with a few crates dumped in it. You pay per pumpkin, from £1.50 for a munchkin up to £12 for a large one, and the parking ticket you buy to get in gets knocked off your pumpkin total. There's a pumpkin cannon too, which is the sort of detail that will get mentioned at bedtime whether you picked a good pumpkin or not.

The lambing experience is the other big one, and it's properly hands on. You get an hour in the shed helping the farmer with chores, or you can just sit with the lambs if your child would rather watch. It's free, but it's ticketed per person and everyone from age five up needs a paying adult with them, so this isn't one to bring a toddler along to and expect a spot.

If you fancy making a day or a night of it, the party pods have their own heated pool and a sauna, plus a quad pod ride to keep energetic kids busy. The pool's 1.2 metres deep, which is worth knowing if you've got a smaller child who isn't a confident swimmer. Pods don't have running water, so you bring your own bottled water, and food and drink is kept out of the pool area itself unless you're in the pod.

Buggies have a rough time of it in the pumpkin field. The site itself suggests a baby carrier instead, though the catering area is reachable by a proper path. If you need disabled parking, they say to email ahead so they can sort a space for you.

Plan your visit

How much does the pumpkin patch cost?

It depends on the pumpkin. A munchkin is £1.50, small ones are £5 and large ones are £12. Your parking ticket gets deducted from whatever you spend on pumpkins.

Is the lambing experience free?

Yes, but it's one ticket per person, including children, and you book a one hour slot.

What age can take part in lambing?

Five and up, and every child needs a paying adult with them. If you're pregnant or trying to conceive they ask you to sit this one out.

Can we bring a buggy to the pumpkin patch?

It's a real field with gravel paths, so a baby carrier works better than a buggy. The catering area has a proper path if you do bring one.

What's included with the party pods?

A heated pool, a sauna and a quad pod ride, with the pod itself charged at £29 an hour, dropping to £10 an hour if you stay longer.

Can we eat and drink by the pool?

Not unless you're in the party pod. Food and drink isn't allowed in the pool area otherwise.

Do pod guests need a separate pumpkin patch ticket?

No, your car is parked at the pods and you just walk down to the field from there.

Is there disabled parking?

They'll provide it if you email ahead of your visit.
