What it’s like
Outdoor karting where kids learn racing lines and overtaking, with floodlit night sessions for the older ones.
This is proper outdoor karting, not the indoor go-slow version. Kids get taught throttle control, braking and racing lines, then move on to overtaking once they've got the basics down. It's aimed at building actual driving skill rather than just letting them loose for five minutes, which makes it feel worth the money if your child takes to it.
There's a minimum height of 4ft 4 inches, so this isn't one for the younger end of the age range even if your eight-year-old is keen. Check that before you get their hopes up. Between May and September there are floodlit night sessions on Wednesday evenings, 5pm to 8:30pm, which is the one to save for an older kid who fancies racing after dark rather than a first-timer.
Booking has to happen at least 24 hours ahead and it's done by phone, so you can't just turn up on the day. They run birthday parties and group bookings too, which suits karting well since a group of mates racing each other is half the fun. The track runs daily, 9am to 5pm, outside of those evening sessions.
