What it’s like
Axe throwing, canoeing and canyoning on one site, aimed at kids five and up who fancy proper outdoor grit.
This one's less playground, more proving ground. Axe throwing, air pistol shooting, canoeing, canyoning, climbing and abseiling all sit on the same site, plus something they call the Highland Warrior Games, which sounds like the bit your kids will bring up at school on Monday. Minimum age is five, so it's not for a toddler in a buggy, though there is a kid's play area and toddler toys back at reception for any younger sibling who's along for the ride.
It only opens Friday to Monday, 9am to 6pm, and is shut Tuesday to Thursday unless you've got a big enough group to book one of those days out specially. Everything runs on email booking, with a 48-hour reply window, and weekends need booking well in advance, so this isn't a turn-up-and-see kind of trip. Cancel or change with less than seven days' notice and it's a £20 per person rebooking fee, which is steep enough that you'll want the date locked in before you tell the kids.
Prices start at £159 for the stag or hen activity day package, which gives you a sense this is built as much for adult groups as for family days, though the age minimum of five and the under-5s area suggest families are catered for too. There's on site food, indoor seating, a picnic area and accessible toilets, so a full day here isn't a hardship even if the weather turns and a session gets postponed, which the site admits can happen.
It's genuinely rural, and they're upfront that public transport won't get you there. If you're the cycling sort, it sits on Sustrans Cycle Route 7, which is a nice touch if you fancy arriving under your own steam.

How much does it cost?
The stag and hen activity day package is £159, which gives a sense of the pricing level though individual activity prices aren't listed here in detail.
How do we book?
Everything's done by email, and they aim to reply within 48 hours. Weekends fill up so it's worth getting in early.
What age do kids need to be?
Five and up for the main activities. There's a kid's play area and toddler toys at reception for younger siblings.
What days is it open?
Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 9am to 6pm. It's closed Tuesday to Thursday unless you've got a large group booking.
Can we get there by public transport?
Not really, it's rural and they don't recommend it. There's parking on site, signposted past the green barn, and it connects to Sustrans Cycle Route 7 if you're cycling.
What if the weather's bad?
Sessions can be postponed for weather or technical issues, and they'll try to rearrange for a nearby date.
Can we cancel or change our booking?
Yes, up to seven days before your session for free. Inside that window there's a £20 per person rebooking fee.
