What it’s like
Weekly Scout meetings for 4 to 17 year olds, from badge work to camping trips and a Scarefest outing.
Badge work is the bread and butter here, but it's the trips that stick in a kid's memory. Camping is a regular feature, there's a Survival Camp on the calendar, and a Scarefest trip for anyone who fancies a scare over half term. It's proper hands-on Scouting rather than a sit-down club.
The Squirrels group meets Monday evenings from 5 to 6, which is a manageable slot for the younger end before school-night bedtimes. Scouting covers a wide age range, from 4 right up to 17, so older kids graduating up through the sections should find something that still challenges them rather than feeling like they've outgrown the place.
It's not a drop-in session you can rock up to on a whim. This is a proper Scout group with a structured programme, so it suits kids who'll stick with it week to week rather than those after a one-off activity.
