Theatres & Shows in Nottingham

Nottingham does well for a proper sit-down show. Nottingham Playhouse changes its programme through the year, with children's theatre and seasonal titles on top of the main bill. Lakeside Arts, out by the University of Nottingham's lake, leans into puppetry, live music and storytelling, and has parking and a cafe if you're making an afternoon of it. For bigger names, Motorpoint Arena Nottingham hosts touring family shows and ice hockey right by the Lace Market tram stop, handy if you don't want to drive in. If you're weighing up options further out, Derby Theatre does family shows from under 5s upwards with proper access support, and it's a drive out to Loughborough Town Hall for pantos with relaxed and signed performances, from £22, plus Christmas party sit-down dos. For toddlers, Lakeside's storytelling is gentler than an arena gig. For a first big show, the Playhouse or Motorpoint give you scale without leaving the city.
