What it’s like
A proper theatre panto with relaxed and signed performances, plus Christmas parties if you fancy a sit-down do.
This year's pantomime is Dick Whittington, and it's the obvious reason to book: a matinee at £22 or an evening show at £25, with a relaxed performance and a signed one on offer too if that suits your family better. Babies under two get in free to family and panto shows under what they call the Babes In Arms policy, though you have to book that through the Box Office rather than online, which feels like an extra step for something that should be automatic.
Beyond the panto there's live theatre and entertainment through the year, and the Sock Gallery runs exhibitions and workshops if you want something quieter than a big show. Booking's required, and worth doing ahead since last entry is an hour before curtain up and you don't want to be that family arguing at the doors.
On cost, keep an eye on the extras. Most shows carry a £1.75 booking fee, postal or Box Office collection tickets add another £1.75, and every purchase is final with no refunds or exchanges unless the venue agrees one (which itself costs £1.75 a ticket). If you fancy making a night of it, there's a Christmas party option too, from a £39.95 buffet up to £52.95 for the three-course sit-down.
Getting in is straightforward if you need it to be: step-free access throughout, six wheelchair spaces in the main auditorium, adapted toilets on two floors, and an Essential Companion Scheme that gives a free ticket to whoever's helping you. Parking is three separate pay car parks nearby rather than one obvious option, so it's worth knowing Beehive Lane has EV charging and Granby Street has parent-child spaces before you set off.

Do we need to book in advance?
Yes, booking's required. You can do it online, by phone, or in person at the Box Office.

Can I bring a baby?
Under twos go free to family and pantomime shows through the Babes In Arms policy, but you have to book that one through the Box Office rather than online.
What if my child needs extra support?

Where do we park?
There's no venue car park, but three pay car parks nearby: Sital House, Beehive Lane multi-storey with EV charging, and Granby Street with parent-child spaces.

All ticket sales are final with no refunds or exchanges, though the venue can sometimes authorise an exchange for a £1.75 fee.
