Drama & Performing Arts in Nottingham
If your child fancies treading the boards, Nottingham gives you a proper starting point. Attic Theatre School is about three km out from the centre and runs weekly acting, singing and dance classes for ages 3 to 21, with a free taster session if you're not sure it'll stick. Closer to the university side of town, New Theatre puts on student-produced plays on a campus stage, and it's step-free throughout with free evening parking, which makes it an easy watch even if you're just going along to see one. For younger children, the Attic classes are the obvious choice, since they start so early and let you try before you commit to anything. If you're after an evening out watching rather than doing, New Theatre's student productions are worth building an evening around, and the free parking after hours takes the sting out of a midweek trip.
