Museums in Liverpool

Only two places on this page, but they couldn't be more different. Out at Saint Helens, World of Glass is free to walk round, a Victorian glass street with hands-on light and lens exhibits, and you can pay a few pounds extra to watch live glass blowing. In Liverpool itself, Strawberry Field asks from £9.45 and gives you the gardens that inspired the Beatles song, plus a virtual Mellotron among the memorabilia in the exhibition. If cost matters, start free at World of Glass and treat the glass blowing as a bonus rather than a must. Strawberry Field needs booking ahead and suits older kids and Beatles fans more than toddlers, though there's a cafe and changing places if you need them. One's indoors for a rainy day, the other's mostly outdoors in the gardens, so check the forecast before you pick.
