Live Music & Gigs in Cardiff

Cardiff's live music scene is mostly a five-minute walk from itself. Flute & Tankard has gigs most nights and walk-ins only, with tickets from £2, while The Head of Steam does shuffleboard and pool alongside its bands, plus a kids menu if you're stopping for daytime food. The Dock puts live music on Thursday and Friday nights, with the kitchen open right through the afternoon if you want to eat before the sound checks start. For something with more spectacle, The Piano Works has dueling pianists and a house band taking requests over Sunday roasts or a bottomless Saturday brunch, though it's from £40 and under 18s are barred Thursday to Saturday, so this one's for the adults. If you're happy with a longer trip, Jac's Music Venue in Aberdare, about twenty miles out, runs gigs from Friday afternoon through to Sunday night. For a cheap, casual night without booking ahead, Flute & Tankard is the one to know.
