Museums in Stoke-on-Trent

There's not much in the way of museums right in Stoke-on-Trent on this list, so it's worth widening the net a bit. The Children's Country House at Sudbury is a longer trip out, but it's built for families: a National Trust house given over entirely to the Museum of Childhood, with gardens and a cafe, tickets from £11 and no age limit. It's the sort of place you make a day of, not a quick stop. Runway Visitor Park is further still, out at Altrincham near Manchester Airport, but it's free to get in and lets you climb aboard a retired Concorde and a DC10, with runway views included. If you've got a toddler, Sudbury's gardens give them room to wander; older kids will get more from clambering round the planes. Both have cafes and accessible toilets, so neither is a bare afternoon out.
