What it’s like

A shopping centre in the middle of Stoke-on-Trent with quiet hours for anyone who finds it all a bit much.

This is a shopping centre rather than an attraction with a ticket price, so the appeal is more practical than exciting: somewhere dry to walk around, seven places to eat, and a couple of quiet sessions if bright lights and noise aren't for you or your kids.

The quiet hours are the detail worth building a visit around. Saturdays 9 to 10am and Sundays 10:30 to 11:30am, the centre dials things down, which is useful if you've got a child who struggles with busy retail spaces, or you just fancy getting round the shops before the crowds turn up. Outside those windows it's normal shopping centre hours, open from 10:30am to 4:30pm.

Food-wise there's actual choice rather than one food court sandwich stand. The list includes a café, a restaurant, a confectionery spot and vegetarian options, so a coffee stop or a proper sit-down lunch are both on the table.

Getting there without a car is straightforward. Hanley bus station is a 10 to 15 minute walk, and if you're coming from Stoke Rail Station it's about a 10 minute bus ride. There's parking on site too, and bike parking if anyone's cycling in.
