What it’s like

Paintball, airsoft, laser tag and gel blaster battles on outdoor terrain, with laser tag standing in for the under-11s.

This is the site for proper outdoor combat games rather than a soft play with a laser gun bolted on. Kids and adults run round game zones with obstacles playing capture the flag or team deathmatch, choosing between paintball, airsoft, laser tag or gel blasters depending on age and how much of a hit they fancy taking.

Paintball's the one with the age catch. The site's own age rules say under 11s aren't allowed on paintball and get offered outdoor laser tag instead, but their FAQ also says you have to be over 12 to play paintball, so don't assume your ten-year-old is getting a marker in hand without checking which rule applies on the day. Laser tag sidesteps all that and starts at 6, so it's the safer bet if you've got a mixed-age group turning up.

None of this is a walk-in job. Everything needs booking 24 hours ahead, and the office hours are fairly standard nine to five on weekdays, shutting an hour earlier at weekends. Paintball pay-as-you-play starts at £15, with equipment hire on top at £25 or a 500-paintball package at £45 if you want to just get stuck in. Airsoft is £30 a day for non-members or £20 if you're a member, and the hire packages split into a £40 basic kit or a £50 spec ops version if you want to look the part.

Parties need a minimum of 10 people, which rules out a small last-minute booking, but they'll take up to 60 and food's included in some packages. It's all outdoors on rough terrain, so trainers won't cut it, get something with grip and ankle support sorted before you go.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

Paintball pay-as-you-play is £15, with equipment hire at £25 or a 500-paintball package at £45. Airsoft is £30 a day for non-members and £20 for members, with hire packages at £40 or £50.

Do we need to book in advance?

Yes, everything needs booking 24 hours ahead, there's no turning up on spec.

What age can kids start?

Laser tag is open from age 6. Paintball has a higher age limit, their own site gives it as 11 for parties and 12 in the general rules, so it's worth asking which applies when you book.

What happens if my child is too young for paintball?

They get offered outdoor laser tag instead, so a mixed-age group can still play together.

Is there supervision out on the field?

Trained marshals run the sessions in the field, handling the games and keeping an eye on safety.

Do parents need to sign anything?

A parent or guardian has to countersign the consent waiver, and for paintball a parent needs to attend the safety talk at the start.

How long does a session last?

Packages can run from a few hours up to a full day, and paintball can be played into the evening during summer.

What's included in a birthday party?

Parties run for groups of 10 to 60 and you can pick airsoft, kids paintball, laser tag or gel blasters. Food and safety equipment are included, and laser tag party food is £6.50.

Is it safe, does it hurt?

You get issued a safety mask and coveralls on arrival, and wearing sensible clothing like a thick jumper underneath is what they recommend.

What should we wear?

Sturdy, supportive footwear is a must since it's all played on rough outdoor terrain.
