What it’s like
A Sheffield gym for teens and adults, with cardio kit, free weights, boxing bags and Pilates or yoga classes.
This one's for the older kids and the adults in the house rather than a family day out. The minimum age for classes is 14, so it suits a teenager who wants to get into training properly, alongside the grown-ups doing their own thing.
Once you're through the door there's cardio and strength equipment, free weights and boxing bags to work through, plus Pilates and yoga classes if you'd rather stretch than lift. Personal training with a customised programme is on offer too, which is worth it if you or your teenager need a proper plan rather than just wandering between machines. Classes are pitched at every fitness level, beginner or otherwise, so nobody should feel out of their depth.
Membership is flexible: monthly plans with no joining fee or contract, class passes that bring the per-session cost down, or pay-as-you-go if you'd rather not commit. There's a small changing room with a toilet, sink and shower, which does the job even if it's not spacious. Most classes are mixed, aside from the "Men on Mats" session.
Worth a mention if you're under 14 and hoping to tag along: get in touch directly, because there might be other sessions they can offer outside the standard age rule.
